Sumatra’s Add2Calendar
Overview:
Not all web sites have an "add this event to your calendar" button.
Sumatra, the calendar data experts, has started to address this problem for
Internet Explorer 8 users with an 'accelerator' called 'Add2Calendar".
Installation:
Go to this url: http://www.sumatra.com/add2calendar.
When prompted,
check "make this the default", then "Add" this accelerator.

Use:
Go to a web page and highlight the text you would like to "add to your
calendar". Right-hand click on that text. If you do not see the
accelerator list, you are probably right-hand clicking on a URL. Try to
right-hand click on another part of the text you have highlighted. For
example:

The accelerator will generate an iCalendar file. Most likely, your
browser will prompt you to "Open" or "Save" the file. Don't save it,
OPEN it!
You will notice that the text you highlighted, and the URL you visited is
included in the body of the appointment.
Here is a screen shot of the iCalendar file:
Remove the accelerator
In your browser, to to the Tools menu, then "Manage Add-ons". Select
Accelerators. Then find the Suamtra under the "Appointment" category, and
select "Remove".
Known Issues
- The "Add2Calendar" accelerator leaves a "blank page" in your browser.
Please close this page.
- If there is no time specified, the appointment defaults to a 12PM start
time.
- The default meeting duration defaults to one hour.
- When the accelerator can not figure out the date, the date defaults to
today's date.
- The month names might not process correctly for non-English languages
- the 2400 clock is not supported without a period or colon to separate
the hour and minute (e.g. 2310 vs 23:10)
License
This is made available to you as a "free" add-on to IE8.
